Traumatic events

What is psychological trauma?

Psychological trauma can occur after a traumatic event that exceeds a person's coping capacity. This can include assault, an accident, a sudden loss, violence, abuse, or a serious medical event. Trauma depends not only on the severity of the event itself, but also on how it is experienced internally.

We help people rebuild a sense of inner security after emotional trauma. Our approach is gentle, respectful, and gradual, respecting your pace.

Everyone reacts differently, but here are some common symptoms associated with unresolved trauma:

  • Recurring nightmares

  • Hypervigilance or exaggerated startle response

  • Avoidance of certain places or situations

  • Difficulty relaxing or feeling safe

  • Sleep disturbances, anxiety, irritability

  • Emotional numbness or a feeling of detachment

These reactions are signs that your nervous system is trying to protect itself, but they can become overwhelming. Therapy helps restore balance.

A safety-centered therapeutic approach

Treating trauma requires a stable and empathetic therapeutic environment. Our psychologists and psychotherapists are trained in specialized approaches, including:

  • Trauma-focused therapy

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) – to safely process traumatic memories

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) – to explore the wounded parts of oneself with compassion

  • Somatic therapy – to help the body release tensions associated with trauma

Our goal is to help you regain control of your story, by gradually rebuilding your ability to live in the present moment.
